  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

  • Additional flavorings (like a splash of Amaretto)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the almond flour and granulated sugar.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg whites until they form soft peaks, then gently fold them into the almond flour mixture.
  4. Add the almond extract and any optional flavorings like Amaretto, mixing until you have a sticky dough.
  5. Shape the dough into small balls (about 1 inch in diameter) and roll each in powdered sugar.
  6. Place the cookies on the baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart, and top with crushed almond slices.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until lightly golden and tops crack slightly.
  8. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
