Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the almond flour and granulated sugar.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the egg whites until they form soft peaks, then gently fold them into the almond flour mixture.
- Add the almond extract and any optional flavorings like Amaretto, mixing until you have a sticky dough.
- Shape the dough into small balls (about 1 inch in diameter) and roll each in powdered sugar.
- Place the cookies on the baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart, and top with crushed almond slices.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until lightly golden and tops crack slightly.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
