Ingredients

  • 1 lb Italian sausage
  • 4 medium potatoes, diced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and add the Italian sausage. Cook until browned.
  3. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until translucent.
  4. In a greased baking dish, layer the diced potatoes.
  5. Pour the sausage mixture over the potatoes.
  6. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  7. Pour the chicken broth over the layers.
  8. Top with shredded cheese.
  9. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  11. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For a healthier alternative, use turkey or chicken sausage. You can also add extra vegetables like spinach, bell peppers, or mushrooms.
