Description
Tender beef strips marinated in a sweet and savory teriyaki sauce, finished with toasted sesame seeds. A quick and gourmet dish perfect for weeknight dinners or special gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 500g flank or sirloin steak
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (toasted)
Instructions
- Slice the beef thinly against the grain to ensure a tender texture.
- In a bowl, mix together the soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, rice vinegar, sesame oil, cornstarch, and water until well combined.
- Place the sliced beef in a resealable bag or bowl and pour the marinade over it. Make sure the beef is well-coated. Refrigerate for 30 minutes to 2 hours.
- Heat a skillet with a little oil over medium-high heat.
- Sear the marinated beef in batches for 1-2 minutes per side, until browned and caramelized. Avoid overcrowding the pan.
- (Optional): If you have leftover marinade, simmer it in a separate pan for 3-4 minutes until it thickens into a glaze.
- Plate the beef strips, drizzle with the glaze if using, and sprinkle toasted sesame seeds on top.
Notes
Slice against the grain for maximum tenderness. Ensure not to overcrowd the skillet for even cooking.
