Christmas Eve Finger Foods - Pinwheels

Christmas Eve Finger Foods – Pinwheels

  • Total Time: 2 hours
  • Diet: Halal, Vegetarian (option), Gluten-Free (option)

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large flour tortillas (10-inch size)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup finely diced red bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup finely diced green bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup sliced green onions (scallions)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 4 ounces thinly sliced halal beef deli meat or turkey breast
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and sour cream. Stir until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  2. Add the garlic powder, onion powder, shredded cheddar cheese, diced red bell pepper, green bell pepper, and green onions to the bowl. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
  3. Season the mixture with a pinch of salt and black pepper according to your taste.
  4. Lay one flour tortilla flat on a clean work surface or cutting board.
  5. Spread about 1/4 of the cream cheese mixture evenly over the entire surface of the tortilla, leaving about a half-inch border at the very top edge.
  6. Place a single layer of the beef deli meat or turkey over the cream cheese layer.
  7. Starting from the bottom edge, roll the tortilla up tightly toward the top. Apply gentle pressure as you roll to ensure there are no air pockets.
  8. Repeat the process with the remaining tortillas and filling.
  9. Wrap each rolled tortilla tightly in plastic wrap. Place them in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or up to overnight. This step is crucial for easy slicing.
  10. When ready to serve, remove the plastic wrap. Use a sharp serrated knife to trim off the uneven ends.
  11. Slice the logs into 1-inch thick rounds. Arrange them on a serving platter and serve chilled.
