Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin spice
  • 1/4 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1/2 cup canned pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons milk
  • Optional spices for drizzle

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and pumpkin spice in a large bowl.
  3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Mix pumpkin puree, milk, egg, and vanilla in another bowl.
  5. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  6. Turn the dough onto a floured surface, gently knead a few times, then shape it into a circle about 1-inch thick. Cut into wedges.
  7. Place scones on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden.
  8. Mix powdered sugar and milk for the glaze until smooth, drizzle over cooled scones, and serve.

Notes

Serve warm with butter, cream cheese, or whipped cream. These scones can be frozen for up to three months.
