- Place a medium saucepan over medium heat and melt the butter gently.
- Add minced garlic to the melted butter and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Slowly pour in the heavy cream, stirring with a whisk to blend everything together.
- Simmer the mixture for 5–7 minutes, allowing it to reduce slightly.
- Lower the heat and gradually add Parmesan cheese, whisking continuously to melt.
- Season with salt, pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg if using.
- Simmer for another 2–3 minutes until thickened to your liking.
- Remove from heat and serve over hot pasta, garnished with parsley and extra Parmesan.
Notes
Store leftover sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently, adding a splash of cream or milk if it thickens too much. Customize by adding cooked shrimp, chicken, or vegetables for a hearty dish.
