  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil For sautéing

For the Lemon Garlic Yogurt Sauce
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt Use full-fat for creaminess
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice Freshly squeezed is best
  • 1 clove garlic, grated or minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

For Serving
  • 4 pieces pita breads Warmed
  • 1 cup chopped tomatoes Fresh and ripe
  • 1/2 cup sliced cucumber
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley For garnish

Method
 

Preparation and Cooking
  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and add the chopped onion. Cook until softened, about 3–4 minutes.
  2. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Stir in ground beef, cumin, oregano, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook until beef is browned and fully cooked.
Making the Sauce
  1. In a small bowl, whisk together Greek yogurt, lemon juice, garlic, olive oil, and salt until smooth.
Serving
  1. Warm pita breads slightly.
  2. Fill each pita with cooked beef, tomatoes, cucumber, and parsley.
  3. Drizzle generously with lemon garlic yogurt sauce and serve immediately.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days and separate the filling from the pita for best texture upon reheating.
