Ingredients

For the Sandwiches
  • 4 slices sourdough or artisan white bread
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 12 slices pepperoni
  • 2 tablespoons pizza sauce or marinara
  • 2 tablespoons softened butter
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning or dried oregano

Method

Preparation
  1. Lay out all ingredients for easy assembly. Shred cheese, soften butter, and portion out pepperoni and sauce.
  2. Spread butter evenly on one side of each bread slice.
  3. On the unbuttered side of two slices, layer mozzarella, pepperoni, a light spoonful of sauce, and a dash of seasoning.
  4. Top with remaining bread slices, butter side facing out.
Cooking
  1. Heat a skillet over medium-low and place sandwiches in, pressing lightly with a spatula.
  2. Cook for 3–4 minutes per side, until bread is golden and cheese is melted.
  3. Let sandwiches rest for 1 minute before slicing. Serve hot.

Notes

Serve the Pizza Grilled Cheese Sandwiches hot with extra pizza sauce or marinara on the side for dipping. They pair well with a simple salad or crunchy pickles. Enjoy them as a fun meal with family or a cozy snack during movie night! Leftover sandwiches can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. To reheat, place them in a skillet over low heat or use a toaster oven to crisp up the bread again.
