Ingredients

For the pie crust
  • 1 unit pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
For the filling
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 0.5 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup pizza sauce or marinara
  • 30 slices pepperoni
  • 0.25 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the pie crust and press it into a deep-dish pan, ensuring it goes up the sides. Prick the bottom with a fork and prebake for 7–8 minutes.
  2. In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef and Italian sausage until fully browned. Drain excess grease and season with garlic powder and Italian seasoning.
  3. Spread ricotta cheese across the bottom of the prebaked crust.
  4. Add half of the shredded mozzarella over the ricotta.
  5. Spoon the cooked meat mixture over the cheese layers and spread evenly.
  6. Pour the pizza sauce over the meat layer and spread gently.
  7. Add the remaining mozzarella cheese.
  8. Arrange the pepperoni slices on top and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
Baking
  1. Place the pie on a baking sheet and bake for 25–30 minutes until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.
  2. Let the pie rest for 10 minutes before slicing to allow it to set properly.

Notes

Serve warm, paired with a simple side salad or garlic bread. For additional flavor, mix in different cheeses like provolone or cheddar. Don't overload the pie with sauce; a little goes a long way. For spice, try adding sliced jalapeños or crushed red pepper flakes.
